Natalie watched him for four years behind shy lashes. He was everything she dreamed of a man to be; strong, handsome, and someone who wasn’t afraid of hard labor. She was not his typical girl. She wasn’t shy but around him her voice evaded her and she only wanted to be noticed yet everything kept backfiring.

Aug pleqsant, Cheesecake rated it it was ok Shelves: Well not to the reader imho Not the reaction I’d like in an H.
Luke warm at best. Natalie has been forgotten and taken for granted by everyone but her sister, her whole life. She becomes friends with Logan but his older brother, Wyatt never seems to notice her. So she ‘s a bit of a mary-sue doormat I’m sorry to say. Each time she has an opportunity to find some gumption, she gets tongue-tied around his sexy muscles Wyatt is the serious responsible brother and he notices everything but never lets others know what he is thinking.
He knows that Natalie is attracted to him but has never given her reason to think he is interested in any way. Near the start of the book, Logan, his brother who is friends with Nat, corrects him on her real age when he seems to think she is still in high school.
The story is a string of little moments like that, where Wyatt learns something new about Nat but shows no reaction. So the reader is left much in the dark as to what he thinks.
And if we’re in the dark, imagine how Natalie feels??? There’s a bit of suspense towards the end when Nat’s sister Jen who had come home from college disappears for two days. Was it the creepy guy who tortured cats when he was a kid??? Unfortunately, by the end I was unconvinced that Wyatt felt the same for her that she did for him. She says it and he gives the old Han Solo answer of pleaaant know” but paraphrased.
Just for the record, I hated it when Han said that too! I want him to make a bit of a fool of himself as recompense for taking the h for granted for so long. I want the whole damn town to see them together and feel envious of their love. What I don’t want is view spoiler [him leaving her alone for 2 weeks to stew.
Then her going surpries him and apologizing when she didn’t bloody well do anything wrong. Not because he’s expected to, or because he’s being polite, but because he can’t frickn’ go one more day without her.
Buy for others
Is that too much to ask??? The book screams for an epilogue. Safety is good view spoiler [she is a virgin. She moved to town 4 years ago, so she’s seen him with other women from time to time, but nobody serious. She was too young at first and he really didn’t see her ‘that’ way because she wears overalls all the time and is shy. The Cover of the Book: A Pleasant Surprise was definitely one of my top favourites and I enjoyed it to the very last word!
For four long years, Natalie has had a major crush on Wyatt! He was everything she had dreamed and wanted of a man. Strong, sexy as hell, and someone who wasn’t afraid of hard labor. Natalie wasn’t a shy girl but for some God forsaken reason, around him she always seemed to loose her voice and all rationale thoughts evaded her!
Natalie is your typical sweet, innocent and beyond naive woman usually mentioned in Ms. However, what I liked about this particular character was the backbone, Natalie has. I just love male characters like this! Give me a freakin break D All in all, this was an absolute treat to read! A Pleasant Surprise was definitely one of those books that made me smile, laugh, scream in frustration and even get a little teary eyed!
I just simply loved it! I absolutely recommend this book for all cute romance readers out there! Nov 14, Dar rated it really liked it Shelves: Really liked it, so sweet! These quick and heartfelt stories appeal to me like nothing else, it’s really weird actually, but they feel good, so I read them! We have what is to be expected, manly man finally notices innocent, shy girl who has been lusting after him forever. He knows he is no good for her, but can’t help himself, and then feels bad that he isn’t good enough and can’t commit to her.
She of course has no idea what is going on and assumes she is just too icky for him and simply accept Really liked it, so sweet!
She of course has no idea what is going on and assumes she is just too icky for him and simply accepts that fact. In this case, he waits for her to realize she wants him and to come after him, which was a nice change!
Aug 18, Surrpise Storm rated it really liked it.
Good read, very sweet down home love story. Natalie very shy, hidden behind her frumpy clothes and awkwardness. Secretly loves Wyatt totally sexy hot cowboy.
They both learn lessons along the way and of course a happy ever after. Sex scene typical to this sweet story. Love a good ending. Oct 29, Rachel rated it did not like it Shelves: I don’t even know where to start Why was it necessary for the hero to be such an arsehole? Why did the villain step straight out of a pantomime? Why did nobody edit this book?
